Plugins do make our life much easier. They help us add lots of extra features that may not be easy to incorporate in WordPress especially for those who don’t know coding. Once you have installed a plugin, you can turn it On or Off at any time with just a single click of your mouse. In our previous tutorial, we listed the recommended plugins that you must install on your blog. Now in this tutorial, we will show you how to install a plugin.
Install a Plugin From Admin Panel
This is the easiest way to install a plugin. The plugin must be present in WordPress plugin directory – usually the free plugins (that are distributed under GPL) are present there.
Logon to your WordPress blog using admin account and navigate to Appearance > Plugins > Add New.
The screen will show you a search box where you can enter the name of the plugin and hit the “Search Plugins” button.
The search results page will show you the plugins matching with the search term you have entered. From the list, find out the plugin that you have been looking for and click the “install” link.
Once the installation is done, on next screen, you will get a link to activate the plugin. Click on that and you are done!
Depending upon which plugin you are installing, you will have to change the settings for that plugin. That too can be done from the WordPress admin panel. However, since the settings for each plugin is different, it can not be covered in this tutorial.
